 Few things are more annoying in the    

 world of comms than Line Noise.        

 You're already familiar with how a     

 modem works - it changes data from your

 computer into tones that can be sent   

 down the telephone.                    

 Your average telephone is fine for     

 the conveyance of speech, since little 

 pops or crackles on the line don't     

 prevent you from understanding what is 

 being said.
